Leader Message – Hafizul

Mr. Mohd Hafizul Dato’ Ahmad
Former Head, World Philosophical Forum Malaysia Branch

Distinguished World Leaders, guests, esteemed colleagues, friends in philosophy, and seekers of wisdom from all over the world. It is a great honor to stand before you on this year’s World Philosophy Day here in the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur.

Philosophy, at its heart, is a celebration of questioning, of reflection, of dialogue, and of the human search for meaning. Today, we gather not only to affirm philosophy’s timeless role in our shared humanity but also to honor those who have walked this path before us with courage and vision. For me, this occasion carries a very special weight.

I once had the privilege of serving as the head of the World Philosophical Forum (WPF), and it shaped my life in ways that continue to unfold. But today, I also speak as a son — paying tribute to my late father, Dr. Halo-N, who served as Secretary General of the WPF with distinction, integrity, and unwavering commitment.

My father believed that philosophy is not confined to books or classrooms; it is a way of living, a way of engaging with others, and a way of building a better world. He reminded us often that philosophy is not about answers alone, but about cultivating the courage to ask the most difficult questions: Who are we? Where are we going? What is our responsibility to each other, and to future generations?

Dr. Halo-N devoted his life to making philosophy accessible, not as an abstract pursuit, but as a living practice of wisdom, ethics, and compassion. He championed the idea that philosophy should serve humanity — that it should bridge cultures, guide leaders, and inspire citizens to act with reason and justice. I stand here humbled by his legacy. His vision continues to inspire me, and I know it resonates with many of you who worked alongside him.

Let’s continue his vision and In remembering him, we are reminded that philosophy is not only about thought, but about action — about transforming ideas into better realities. As we look to the future, let us embrace this calling. The world faces new challenges: technological revolutions, environmental crises, deepening divides between people and nations. In such times, philosophy is more vital than ever.

It calls us to slow down, to reflect, and to reimagine what it means to be human in the 21st century. Let Kuala Lumpur, today, be a space where philosophy renews its mission — a mission to unite, to illuminate, and to humanize. Let us continue the work of those who came before us, like my father, who dedicated their lives to wisdom in service of humanity. And so, I dedicate this moment not only to World Philosophy Day 2025, but also to the living memory of Dr. Halo-N — my father, my teacher, and my guide. May his spirit continue to inspire our search for truth, justice, and meaning.
