As a Muslim, I was educated in a religious school and then continued my undergraduate studies at a university which was also based on religion. Basically I can read and understand Arabic. However, in religion, I do not completely refer to the content of the Quran but prefer the teachings of scholars who refer a lot to hadith and only a little to the Quran.

Therefore, I only understand the Qur’an through translations and interpretations that have been made by scholars alone without myself examining and understanding deeply each verse that has been revealed. Meanwhile, in my daily worship practice, I only follow what has been practiced by the community around me which has been taught since I was a child guided by the understanding of the Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama’ah and the Imam Syafie sect.

I believe that that is the true teaching of Islam. I held that belief very firmly until everything changed when I was introduced by Dr. Haji Fadir to the philosophy of the Quran through my studies at the Advanced Diploma level. It was here that I began to get to know the real Quran in the form of a book of guidance in my life. I began to realize that I had left the Quran for a long time as the Messenger complained to Allah Taala that one day his people would ignore the Quran [Surah Al Furqan 23:30].

However, I am very grateful because Dr. Haji Fadir has introduced me to the greatest person present in my life who has guided me until I become a digger, the knowledge of the Quran until today. The person is none other than Dr. Halo-N. Even though he has left me, his great service to me will continue to be remembered for the rest of my life.
