Leader Message – Amir

Ir. Ts. Amir Izzuddin Hasani Bin Habib
Deputy Chairman - World Philosophical Forum Malaysia

It is a privilege to welcome all distinguished guests, scholars, and leaders to World Philosophy Day 2025 in Kuala Lumpur. As an engineer by training and as someone engaged in shaping systems that directly impact society, I have come to value philosophy not as an abstract pursuit, but as a living guide in addressing the complexity of our times.

The theme this year, “Navigating a Complex World with Ethical Governance,” resonates deeply with my own journey. In engineering, as in leadership, the choices we make are not only technical decisions but also ethical ones. The same applies at the global scale: societies thrive when wisdom, responsibility, and compassion shape governance. This is where philosophy provides a compass — helping us discern the right path when the road ahead is uncertain. I am particularly proud that Malaysia continues to serve as a meeting point for diverse traditions — Eastern and Western, academic and professional, spiritual and civic. The inclusion of Al-Quranic Philosophy in this discourse reflects a conviction I share, that true progress must be rooted in values which elevate human dignity, encourage innovation, and promote justice for all.

This year’s celebration is also touched by remembrance. I wish to honour the legacy of the late Dato’ Philosopher Prof. Dr. Halo-N Badii’uzzaman, whose vision and dedication laid the foundation for Al-Quranic Philosophy to stand alongside world traditions. His work continues to inspire us to seek wisdom that unites, rather than divides. As we reflect, deliberate, and celebrate on this occasion, let us leave with renewed commitment — to apply wisdom in our fields, to lead with integrity, and to make philosophy practical in advancing peace, prosperity, and sustainability. May this gathering inspire us to act as responsible custodians of both knowledge and humanity. Happy World Philosophy Day 2025.
