It is my great privilege to welcome distinguished thought leaders, policy makers, academicians, and corporate pioneers to the World Philosophy Day 2025: International Conference on Philosophy & Leadership, held here in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The theme, “Navigating a Complex World with Ethical Governance”, urges us to reflect deeply on how the timeless wisdom of philosophy can illuminate pathways toward more responsible, inclusive, and sustainable futures.

Our world today is marked by accelerating technological disruption, climate challenges, widening inequalities, and shifting global dynamics. With such increasing concerns and turbulence, leadership calls not only for vision but also for moral courage. Ethical governance should not only consider compliance or short-term efficiency; considerations must extend to embody stewardship of people, of institutions, and of the planet itself. Sustainability agenda should not be perceived as an adjunct to the progress of humankind but to be considered as the foundation upon which meaningful progress rests.

Philosophy equips us with the wisdom to question, to discern, and to act with foresight. This conference provides an invaluable platform for dialogues across countries, cultures and disciplines. The wisdom of ancient traditions shall meet contemporary insights through this much esteemed conference; the rigor of academia converges with the pragmatism of policy and industry. By acknowledging and integrating diverse traditions of thoughts with the practical imperatives of governance, we can reimagine leadership that balances innovation with responsibility, growth with equity, and ambition with care for the environment we all care about.

This conference is more than an intellectual gathering—it is a call to action. May the dialogues that unfold here ignite fresh ideas, foster meaningful collaborations, and instil inspiration to lead with courage, clarity, and conscience.
