With profound gratitude, I warmly welcome the convening of World Philosophy Day 2025, hosted this year in Kuala Lumpur — a city increasingly recognized not only as a hub of commerce and culture but also as a space for global intellectual dialogue.

Throughout history, philosophy has served as a bridge across differences, a light to dispel conflict, and a pathway toward truth. In this regard, the philosophy of the Qur’an offers meaningful guidance. The Divine Word reminds us that the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, are signs for those who reflect (Āl ‘Imrān 3:190). This verse highlights that contemplation, inquiry, and intellectual discourse are not merely academic pursuits but acts of devotion that lead humanity toward true peace.

The theme of World Philosophy Day this year resonates with the Qur’anic call to engage in dialogue with wisdom and to seek common ground based on shared values. Philosophy, therefore, is not confined to classrooms or libraries, but represents a collective human endeavor to build a civilization founded on justice, compassion, and sustainability.

It is my sincere hope that Kuala Lumpur will emerge as a hub of philosophical thought and dialogue rooted in universal human values — justice, compassion, and fraternity. May this gathering transform the city into more than a physical venue; let it stand as a symbol of humanity’s shared pursuit of understanding and reconciliation among nations, faiths, and cultures, for the sake of lasting global peace. In closing, may this celebration rekindle the spirit of philosophy as an intellectual devotion — one that guides humanity toward meaning, wisdom, and enduring harmony.
